Grounded in the Waldorf Steiner approach,
and inspired by diverse educational approaches including Reggio Emilia and Krishnamurti
An Imaginative approach
To develop student-teachers’ imaginations so that they are able to extend children’s naturally alive imagination into imaginative learning in the natural and social sciences, in literacy and mathematics – allowing them to relate well to these subjects, and experience meaningful learning.
An Arts-based approach
To provide depth of experience in learning, brought about by inventiveness, experiences of beauty and human expressiveness through the use of arts-based approaches to teaching and learning. To develop the artistic competencies of all student-teachers through diverse modes of art pedagogies (visual arts, performing arts, literary arts)
An Active Learning approach
To mediate student-teachers’ learning in a range of educational methodologies and theories (for example enquiry-based, reflective practices and experiential learning). This approach fosters active participation and collaborative engagement in order to develop personal responsibility for individual learning.
